Good morning fellow animal advocates.

First, Sorry for the lack of a few days of newsletters.

I am having some Internet connections issues, yet the ‘Tech Guy’ claims nothing is wrong.

But… I can’t get on the internet, from my house or clinic. I suspect that the inexperienced techie isn’t really sure either, hence the mumble/bumble words like IP problem/Virus/ ?????????????????????????????????????????

Today’s newsletter is coming to you Thanks to a local fabulous coffee house… If you ever visit Nelson BC, and have a hankering for wonderful coffee, you MUST go to Oso Negro.

I walk my Dog Lewis to work, and on the way I stop for a coffee… they have specially designed places to hook up his leash, PLUS they often have a water bowl… It’s great to be in a place that has Great Java and is Pet Friendly.

While I was there, I heard a song by a band called Trooper..

“…We’re here for a good time, not a long time, the sun won’t shine everyday…”

Granted the group are not big philosophers, but the song is catchy and there is a deeper meaning to it.

In the last few days I have had the Unfortunate pleasure of diagnosing some young dogs and cats with fatal illnesses… Cancer.

The owners had NO IDEA– in fact the 2 dogs and the cat I diagnosed were both fine specimens of health only a few weeks ago.

Yes the pets have had their share of vaccines, and they were all on commercial dry kibble, BUT it is one BIG SHOCK.

My point is that you just never know.

Enjoy your pets NOW.

Don’t wait until something drastic happens and it’s too late.

I know I’ll be giving Lewis extra special attention this week.

Here are the BIG KEYS that I see to helping you prevent Cancer in your pet:

1. That there are many ways to heal, NOT just conventionally, and we must look at all the options, weighing the side effects with the benefits. An example would be using a Herbal combination called Skin Eze vs Steroids. Most of the time the Steroids
are used, but few Pet owners are aware of ALL of the side effects, such as Liver disease and Diabetes.

2.Diet is KEY. And NOT all Nutrition comes in a BAG. Draw the analogy to your own health. Would you be healthier eating all your food that comes in a bag or can OR Fresh fruit and vegetables, organic meat, and without ingredients you can’t even pronounce? The SAME thing applies to your dog or cat… If you want a healthier pet then you’ve got to feed them healthier, including food that you make at home and Raw food.

3.Vaccines. As little and as few as needed. I am convinced that I gave my own dog far to many vaccines, and this CONSTANT bombardment on his immune system wore him down, ultimately leading to Cancer that ended his life. If I had to do it all again, I would have given him a FRACTION of the vaccines that he had. And vaccine reps are GREAT at informing Veterinarians
about the Newest upcoming disease… BUT if our pets were eating well and not over medicated, then their immune systems would be in better shape to challenge these diseases.

4. Medication. Avoid the “perils” of conventional medication. The MOST common example of this is with conventional
anti-inflammatories. They do cause liver and kidney disease in some pets. Rimadyl has caused sudden death in a number of dogs. Cats are especially sensitive to these medications, and even though the ‘Drug Rep’ may claim that there medication
is safe for cats, far too many cats have developed side effects, in some cases even dying. If your pet needs pain medication,
then consider the alternatives ( ie homeopathic Arnica) and ASK your Veterinarian for LESS TOXIC ones.

5 .Be INVOLVED. To have a healthy pet, it is imperative that you as pet owners are KEY in keeping your pet healthy. You KNOW your pet BETTER than anyone. You can make decisions about pet food, about exercise, about vaccines, about alternate medical options. An empowered Pet Owner is a Wonderful person… You become further bonded with your pet. This doesn’t mean that you don’t see your Veterinarian, but that you work in conjunction with them, making suggestions and questioning their advice. Emergencies are always going to happen, there is still a place for conventional Veterinary Medicine.

BUT as an EMPOWERED Pet Owner, you can Help prevent disease, and utilize alternate options. This could be something as simple as Massage for your dog’s sore back–This twice daily massage may mean that you could avoid that potentially
potent Anti-inflammatory.
