Such a loved dog. It makes me miss all of my pets who have crossed the bridge. They have not been forgotten so I know your dear Lewis will not be either.
So sad for your loss and know your pain. Lewis will always be in your heart and IF you look and listen closely you will also feel his presence in your home. My doggy went to doggy heaven last year February and he was very present in my home after that until I got my new puppy in December 2016.

So sorry to hear about Lewis. I well know the pain of having a beloved dog die. Below see the eulogy of my beloved dog Petey, but a little background first.
I live in a small town in the mountains of Panama (Volcan), not far from the border of Costa Rica. Since 2004 I have organized/sponsored low-cost spay/neuter clinics here. There are NO competent vets in the entire area. I “import” an excellent vet from Costa Rica, Dr. Andres Tello, to operate at the clinics. His clinic in Costa Rica is about an hour from me.
During the years, I have rescued and adopted many dogs. Their care is only by Dr. Tello, but because of the distance, and because he has a very busy practice in Costa Rica, he is not always accessible. Some of my rescues have died over the years. I currently have 18 dogs.
Our spay/neuter clinics are on a Sunday, and Dr. Tello also operates at a clinic in another town in Panama, city of David, on the Saturday before ours. Of all my dogs I’ve lost, Petey’s death affected me the most. I still miss him. I have his picture on my desktop, say “good morning” to him every day and “good night” when I shut my computer down.

I have followed your blog since for almost 9 years (not sure you had Lewis then). I fell in love with him right after he started appearing in your videos and blogs. I regret that I could not make it to your live event in which Lewis was the star. Most bloggers whose dogs pass away or encounter some live changing event, I watch with an element of sadness. With this one, I actually shed a few tears – I felt some bond with him. May he rest in peach. He had such a great life and I am happy to hear his passing was uneventful. He will be waiting for you in the Rainbow Bridge with no mouth carcinoma.
Thanks for sharing your story on Lewis. He was a grand dog indeed. Part of your family and all of ours….. What a great testament to a fur member who was so very cherished. He will never be forgotten and his story helps educate us all.
Dr. Jones, I’m so very sorry to hear about Lewis. Lewis couldn’t have had a better life. He was well taken care of and loved. It’s a shame that dogs don’t live as long as people. They become an important part of our families and leave such a void when they are gone. Hopefully you will find a new family member to fill that void when you and your family are ready. Life without a dog just seems to be empty in a way, a way that can’t be explained, especially to someone who has never owned a dog. Our dogs will always hold a special place in our hearts, even long after they are gone.
RIP Lewis, Andrew you gave Lewis a tremendous life, and even though of course you are now devastated by his loss, time will lessen the grief to a point where it’s bearable. Lewis will now be awaiting the time when it is your turn to be called Home (hopefully not for many years to come) eagerly waiting at the gates to welcome you.

I admire and support your difficult choice for Lewis. A few years ago, I took that path with my dog. I can understand the gamut of emotions and pain. My veterinarian told me that my dog was truly suffering with lymph cancer. I loved my dog enough to make that hard choice.

So sorry to hear about your loss. It is so hard to loose a member of the family. A person almost doesn’t want to have pets as loosing them is so hard on our hearts, but then just at the right time a new pet works there way into your life. I think the consolation that everything possible went into giving them love and kindness helps to ease the pain. I wish you and your family my sympathy. I believe some of me dies with each of my dogs. I have lost four dogs in 40 years and it doesn’t get any easier. I have a 10 yr old shelter “pit bull” with an awesome temperament. Dr. Jones, my sincerest condolences to you and your entire family on the loss of Lewis. I have been following you and him, along with purchasing your supplement, for several years. It truly broke my heart when I saw your video of his mouth surgery and to hear that it was cancer. Unfortunately, being told those 4 words “your dog has cancer” is something that one never forgets, as I lost one of my fur babies to liver/spleen metastatic cancer last year. Even though they take a part of our heart with them, they leave behind the remaining portion filled with wonderful memories and that is what you need to reflect until you meet again.

Sorry for your lost my friend, i had to many lost in my life “cats” and one of them was devastating. in matter of 4 hours, he had a heart attack and the vet revived him and later on found out that he was brain damaged after being deprived of oxygen for 2 min. the latest lost was a big slap in the face and very emotional as Dove was a love kitty. at the age of 13, we found out that he a bone degeneration with cancer that was spreading and arthritis and other condition. no matter what we were doing to him, it was a catch 22 situation and had to put him down. he was a love kitty and even today all the staff at the clinic and us as a family are still shedding tears over his lost. he was a hugger, a love kitty and a survivor after being rescued from a cat hoarder lady in town. there is a lot more to say about Dove. All this to say that i do feel your pain my friend. it ain’t easy. we lost dove just a few days before Christmas. just hang tight my friend. you have a lot of support and if you wish to talk to me? me email is there and you can reach me if you wish. Your best will no longer suffer as he will meet all my families over the rainbow bridge. they will greet your best friend.

They were both over the age of 15. You never get over it. I talk to my babies every day, and can’t wait to meet up with them at the rainbow bridge.

Dr. Jones, what a wonderful tribute to Lewis. He was well loved by you and your family and all of us that were able to see him on video. I know what you and your family are going through. I lost two of my yellow Labs at ages 15 Jasmine and 13 Cody only 16 days apart four years ago in September. I still miss them and cry. But….you have your beautiful memories of Lewis. No one can take them from you. And…you know you did the right thing in letting him go to sleep. He’s not in pain any longer. Our dogs add a lot to our life while they are with us and even when they’re gone, we see that they’ve made us better persons and have taught us what really matters—unconditional love and acceptance. So very sorry.

I had lost 4 dogs within 6 months of each other almost 2 years ago. Two of them were exactly 2 weeks apart from a tumor on the spleen. It was heartbreaking. So sorry to hear about Lewis. I well know the pain of having a beloved dog die. Below see the eulogy of my beloved dog Petey, but a little background first.
I live in a small town in the mountains of Panama (Volcan), not far from the border of Costa Rica. Since 2004 I have organized/sponsored low-cost spay/neuter clinics here. There are NO competent vets in the entire area. I “import” an excellent vet from Costa Rica, Dr. Andres Tello, to operate at the clinics. His clinic in Costa Rica is about an hour from me.
During the years, I have rescued and adopted many dogs. Their care is only by Dr. Tello, but because of the distance, and because he has a very busy practice in Costa Rica, he is not always accessible. Some of my rescues have died over the years. I currently have 18 dogs.
Our spay/neuter clinics are on a Sunday, and Dr. Tello also operates at a clinic in another town in Panama, city of David, on the Saturday before ours. One of my most beloved dogs, Petey, died early on a Saturday morning as I prepared to take him to David to see Dr. Tello. Here is Petey’s eulogy:

Of all my dogs I’ve lost, Petey’s death affected me the most. I still miss him. I have his picture on my desktop, say “good morning” to him every day and “good night” when I shut my computer down.

Dr. Jones, I’m so very sorry to hear about Lewis. Lewis couldn’t have had a better life. He was well taken care of and loved. It’s a shame that dogs don’t live as long as people. They become an important part of our families and leave such a void when they are gone. Hopefully you will find a new family member to fill that void when you and your family are ready. Life without a dog just seems to be empty in a way, a way that can’t be explained, especially to someone who has never owned a dog. Our dogs will always hold a special place in our hearts, even long after they are gone.
RIP Lewis, Andrew you gave Lewis a tremendous life, and even though of course you are now devastated by his loss, time will lessen the grief to a point where it’s bearable. Lewis will now be awaiting the time when it is your turn to be called Home (hopefully not for many years to come) eagerly waiting at the gates to welcome you.

It truly broke my heart when I saw your video of his mouth surgery and to hear that it was cancer. Unfortunately, being told those 4 words “your dog has cancer” is something that one never forgets, as I lost one of my fur babies to liver/spleen metastatic cancer last year. Even though they take a part of our heart with them, they leave behind the remaining portion filled with wonderful memories and that is what you need to reflect until you meet again.

I often wonder why such wonderful, devoted, loyal, loving, selfless creatures have such a short life span and I believe the answer is, it is because they selflessly and lovingly give ALL they have draining them and shortening their lives.

I found you and signed up with you because I sensed that you were one of those very special vets who not only embraces holistic medicine, but is TRULY compassionate (something, sadly, I have found missing in many of the traditional vets I have visited). I could sense immediately that you were the kind of vet I would like to have (wish you were here in Phoenix Arizona). I so appreciate your site and the fact that you share information to help our 4-legged family members. It was clear to me, even before this, how much love you have for your animals. I am SO very sorry about Lewis. I can tell from your memorial what a special guy he was. He was a big beautiful guy with a big beautiful heart. I know how hard it is to lose a family member and we all know they are family members. As someone with an aging 12-year-old German Shepherd who is my soul mate, as it appears Lewis was to you, I know how very heart-wrenching this is. Lewis was so blessed to be part of your family (as you were to have him) and extra blessed to have someone who looked out always for his best interests and his well being, up to the end. I am so sad about Lewis and how bad you feel about his death. But you took the best care of him and he had a good life with you and your family. He’s in a better place now and not in any pain. had to make the same choice 2 years ago, my little guy had kidney failure. Always alive in Heart and memories, as Lewis is in yours.
I am a firm believer that they pass on so another needy one can enjoy a loving home and caring heart for a while. Your heart is vast and can love so many with out taking anything a way from those who were there before them.

Sorry for your lost my friend, i had to many lost in my life “cats” and one of them was devastating. in matter of 4 hours, he had a heart attack and the vet revived him and later on found out that he was brain damaged after being deprived of oxygen for 2 min. the latest lost was a big slap in the face and very emotional as Dove was a love kitty. at the age of 13, we found out that he a bone degeneration with cancer that was spreading and arthritis and other condition. no matter what we were doing to him, it was a catch 22 situation and had to put him down. he was a love kitty and even today all the staff at the clinic and us as a family are still shedding tears over his lost. he was a hugger, a love kitty and a survivor after being rescued from a cat hoarder lady in town. there is a lot more to say about Dove. All this to say that i do feel your pain my friend. it ain’t easy. we lost dove just a few days before Christmas. just hang tight my friend. you have a lot of support and if you wish to talk to me? me email is there and you can reach me if you wish. Your best will no longer suffer as he will meet all my families over the rainbow bridge. they will greet your best friend.
Losing your dog is not less painful as any other member of your family, sometimes more so. But from the video one can see that you all gave him a marvellously happy life. You all should be proud. As I have lost pets too you have my understanding and great sympathy. Lewis, never forgotten…. M.
It just rips your heart out of your chest with devastation. My cat is not doing well and I fear I may have to do the same. My condolences to you and your family.

Dear Dr. Lewis~ I am so very sorry to have heard about Lewis. My deepest condolences go out to you and your family. I too lost both my cocker spaniels last year due to illnesses. They were both over the age of 15. You never get over it. I talk to my babies every day, and can’t wait to meet up with them at the rainbow bridge.

I am so sorry to hear of Lewis passing. He was a great example of my favorite breed, the wonderful labs. My best friend, Katy is 12 and we are struggling with health issues now. We probably will have the same situation very shortly. It is never easy.

Dr. Jones, what a wonderful tribute to Lewis. He was well loved by you and your family and all of us that were able to see him on video. I know what you and your family are going through. I lost two of my yellow Labs at ages 15 Jasmine and 13 Cody only 16 days apart four years ago in September. I still miss them and cry. But….you have your beautiful memories of Lewis. No one can take them from you. And…you know you did the right thing in letting him go to sleep. He’s not in pain any longer. Our dogs add a lot to our life while they are with us and even when they’re gone, we see that they’ve made us better persons and have taught us what really matters—unconditional love and acceptance. So very sorry.

I am so very sorry for the loss of Lewis. Thank you for sharing that beautiful heartwarming video tribute of him. He had a wonderful life with you. I had lost 4 dogs within 6 months of each other almost 2 years ago. Two of them were exactly 2 weeks apart from a tumor on the spleen. It was heartbreaking. I will never take my dog to the vet to be put to sleep. I won’t put them through that stress. They will be in the comfort of their own home. Thinking of you and your family. God Bless!
