My dog doesn't have injured joints but her hips seem to be very sore. She is a cross mix of border collie and retriever and is turning 9 in November. She is not eating much and has lost weight.

I'm wondering if she may suffer from hip dysplasia and if I should feed her Vitamin D and Calcium. Will that help and what else can I do to make her better?

Hi Dr. Jones,
Just wanted to comment on today's email regarding "conventional" vets criticizing your approach. I wanted to let you know that my vet, though she use the conventional approach to treating pets, is always supportive of any alternative treatments that I have mentioned to her that I have used. This even includes homemade or even raw diets. She actually recommended trying the chondroitin/glucosomine combo for arthritis. Thought you might like to know that there ARE vets out there that can see the value in your approach:)
