Bird Flu Outbreak Affecting Pets

There’s an outbreak of bird flu – it can affect birds like chickens, but it can also affect our pets.

Most cats who have contracted bird flu have been hunters who have consumed an infected bird.

Since 2006 there has only been 1 documented case of a dog dying from bird flu. It’s very unlikely that your dog will contract it.

Cats have a slightly higher risk, but still very unlikely. Your cat would have had to eaten an infected bird – so as long as the are not eating dead birds, they are safe.
