Jesse Died

jesse4

Sad news.

Jesse, my 18 year old dog who has been sick with a variety of ailments, died on Saturday.

He was euthanized comfortably at home with the rest of his family present.. he still wagged his tail that morning, but after a short walk to pee, was unable to stand.

Jesse came to us after my father died in 2010…at the time he was thought to be not the best behaved dog, and the sound of my dad yelling JESSE was heard by ALL the neighbors frequently…

But he seemed to choose me..immediately after my dad died he jumped into the back of our vehicle, assuming he was to come home with me…and he did

He turned out to be a great dog..

He bonded with all of us, although he tended to follow me around, even waiting to go upstairs to bed until he saw me coming up the stairs..

Jesse walked with our kids to the bus/school..barked to warn us of threats from attacking squirrels..chased away the evil skunks ( which led to a BIG supply of skunk off)

He went running/mountain biking with me, and as little as a year and a half ago went for a 50K run.

He was filled with personality, always talking when he wanted food, or thought he should be having attention instead of something else..

Whenever I hugged my wife Catherine, he would go off with his rrrrrrrrrrrrrr dog talking as if to say..don’t hug her…hug me 🙂

You would think it gets easier as pets get older..unfortunately not.

But he added so much to me and my family, and I am so glad he came to us.

Jesse you were much loved, and will be really missed.

Hugs to your entire family. Knowing it was the right thing at the right time does not make it any easier. I have been in your shoes and you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
Thank you for sharing Jesse with us through your work!

  10. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Our cherished pets are with us for such a short time (as it seems), it is never easy when we have to say goodbye. I am truly sorry. Thank you for sharing his journey.

  11. So sorry to hear this, he was obviously much loved, and lived to a great age. (Mine is 15 this week!) My heart goes out to you and your family .

  12. My deepest sympathy on losing Jesse. I know that feeling of unreality and emptiness as I just lost my Star at nearly 16. We have to be grateful for the time we are allowed to spend with these wonderful beings.

  13. Jessie was a blessing to you and your family, as you all were to him. These marvelous creatures are entrusted to us for a finite period of time, and supply us with unconditional love. What a blessing. What a gift.

  14. He is a beautiful dog ! Your heart will be filled full of so many wonderful memories of Jesse . God Bless .

  15. I’m so sorry for your lose of Jessie. He was loved and cared for all those years and he returned you his love. I know you will hurt for him at different times in your life as you think back on all the good times with him. I’m glad you have another dog that will help in easing that pain.

  16. So sorry for your loss…but happy that you and Jesse had those years together…and that he passed in the loving embrace of your family.. We lost our 11.5year-old Moose, a Great Dane, recently…a year and a half after his dear companion Pepper, an 11yr old Dane had passed…and it is so heart-wrenching still.sometimes I think I hear him in the next room..or I get that little flush of excitement when coming home because he will greet me..but no..His time has passed…The cats looked for him..one still sleeps on his bed frequently..and there is an empty place where he would be. We nearly got a rescue dog the other day..but the application process was so lengthy and time-consuming…and we so wanted to just walk away with a rescued dog…WE know the extremes we will go to for our dogs…I cooked for Moose and Pepper for years..to help them through illnesses…cancer, congestive heart failure…but..the rescue people need to do their due diligence.oh well..it dampened our spirit and we left without the dog…but perhaps another day…we shall see. Anyway..back to YOU and your Jesse…I am so sorry for the loss….Jesse was a lucky guy..as were you…those bonds are so incredible…and you will treasure always that connection..of course you know that. The depth of sorrow we feel is the measure of how deeply we let ourselves love our dogs, cats…pets…and that is the precious gift these creatures bestow upon us. Jesse…fly free now…

  17. This is very sad news indeed and thank you for giving us a potted history of his life. He sounds as if he was a really special dog and take comfort in knowing that you loved him fully and he responded in exactly the same way. R.I.P. Jesse.

Even though Jesse was 18 years old, it’s never easy to say goodbye to an old friend who has given nothing but unconditional love. As time passes you and your family will heal and your grieving will be replaced with only good memories of Jesse. Take care.

with Bobby my Cairn a rescue dog who rescued me!!!
He is the umpteenth dog, cat , horse, bird buried on our
    property and is sorely missed!!
The only antidote is another dog!!!

  32. I AM SOOOO VERY SORRY TO HEAR OF JESSE’S PASSING. TAKE COMFORT THAT HE ISN’T IN ANY PAIN. IT NEVER GETS EASIER WHETHER YOU KNOW THEY ARE SICK OR OLD, IT’S STILL THE SAME THEY ARE OUR FUR BABIES, FAMILY AND YOU JUST LOST A FUR CHILD YOU LOVED SOOOO VERY MUCH. I CRIED WHEN I READ OF HIS PASSING, IT WAS LIKE LOSEING ONE OF MY OWN. I LOVE ALL ANIMALS BIG AND SMALL AND IT JUST TEARS ME UP WHEN ONE DIES. I EVEN PULL THE DEAD ANIMALS OFF THE ROAD, I DON’T WANT THEM BEING RAN OVER BY CARS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY RIGHT NOW. YOUR LITTLE MAN WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU AT THE PEARLY GATES.
    RIP JESSE

  33. I have been through this too many times. He lived to a ripe old age with your care and love. This positive energy and remembrance can never be destroyed. …….Al

  34. I am so sorry to hear about Jesse passing on. He lived a great life with you and your family, and that is what matters and he will always be remembered. It is so sad to see our pets get older and then arthritis or cancer takes over their active bodies. Just six months ago we had to say goodbye to a beautiful Golden Retriever named Arnie who lived next door to us and was either here every day playing with our black lab or at his house. Our dog still does not know why Arnie is not here anymore. Arnie was only 2 years old when he got cancer. But, dogs grieve too and our dog still looks for him. We have had cats for 16-15 years and larger dogs for 12 years, and it never fails on how sad we all are when it comes to say goodbye. Take care and know how much your Jesse loved you all.

  35. 18 years.. what a champion!
So very sorry for the lost of a much loved family member Jesse. Jesse is back with your dad again.

  36. So sad and yet what a joyful life he had! They come to us and become a full part of the family. The pain stings but then the beautiful memories fill our hearts. I have loved and lost several children(pets) thought out my life, but lost 3 grown indoor cats in one week from different ailments because of grief for each one. This was absolutely one of my hardest hurts in one weeks time, but now I can enjoy the beautiful memories each one left in my heart. Prayers for you all

  37. I am so sorry for the loss of Jessie. I remember when your dad passed away and you got Jessie. You and Jessie bonded a while later. God bless you for taking Jessie into your home. God bless Jessie who has moved on to another new home.
    RIP Jessie
    Laura

  38. I am so very sorry for your great loss, i know how you must feel, because we lost our Odo two months ago, he was 14 yrs old and he died of cancer, we miss him so much, he was a very intelligent dog.thanks for all the good advice you give us.

  39. So sorry for your loss. You made the last part of his life very happy and he was lucky to be so loved.

  40. So sorry for your news about Jesse. Thank you for sharing with us about all those good times you had together. Marie

  41. So sorry for your loss but I know Jesse knew and felt he was loved ’til the end. I know how painful it is to lose someone who have been with you for so long. Dogs are not just animals. They are family members too. And if there is one lesson I’ve learned from them…its the uncoditional love and loyalty they bestow to you. Love and take care of them……no matter how long you have not seen each other, the love and loyalty iare still there.

Jesse you will be missed but run free now to the doggie everland and someday all of us will be together.

  42. I am so very sorry for your devastating loss. I too lost my old girl, Sniffles, a week ago today. She was with me for 15 1/2 years. My heartfelt condolences. Jesse and Sniffles are free and running together.

    Many Blessings,

  43. I am very sorry to hear of Jesse’s passing!!!

It’s so very heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet. I truly think that the reason dogs do not have longer life spans is because they are such wonderful, loving creatures that God wants us to be able to share our lives with as many as possible.

  44. So sorry to hear this news, its never easy, Jesse gave you so many Golden Memories and you in turn gave him the final gift of unconditional love.

    Run free Jesse xx

  45. So sorry to hear about Jesse. He was lucky enough to have you and your family to take over the love that your dad gave him. Take comfort in knowing that he is once again with his first love, your dad. Bless him and your family for giving him the love that he so deserved.

  46. Your entire family, and Jessie were equally lucky to have each other for so many years. I am very sorry for your loss Dr. Jones.

  47. It is never easy to put a loved companion down. I know your family will miss him. He led a good and happy life with you and he made you happy. God bless you and him in his journey to his final home.

  48. My condolences Dr.Andrew. My heart goes out to you. It’s such a difficult thing to deal with no matter what the circumstances are. It’s so wonderful to see the love you have for all of God’s creatures.

  49. So sorry Andrew. We understand how you and the family must feel. The huge consolation is that Jesse had a good run and will always be part of you. In my experience, suffering the loss of a human friend becomes bearable but the pain of losing every dog refuses to go away.
    Take care and God Bless.

  50. Dr. Jones,

I am so sorry to hear about Jesse. I know how hard that is when you lose a dog. You and your family have my condolences. I will pray that God comforts you and your family.

  51. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember when Jesse came home with you after the passing of your father. Prayers are with you. May the blessing you have been to so many now wrap arms of love and comfort around you.

  52. I am so sorry to hear about your sweet Jessie it made me cry, it hurts it’s like loosing a family member, I had
2 of my dogs pass away back in December, my heart goes out to you.
    Sincerely
    Elfriede Evans.

  53. So very sorry for your loss. Its so hard to loose a fur baby. My thoughts & prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

  54. God bless you both. I know the pain. I still miss my lovely Sheila, gone 4 years in Sept. I try to tell myself to be happy for the time we had together, but her loss still hurts so badly. Hugs.

  55. Sorry for your loss of Jesse. It can’t be easy for you and your family even when you know it is the right thing to do. Think of Jesse with your dad, telling him all kinds of stories about what a good dog he was and stories about all of you. Hold the good memories.

  56. I think it’s more difficult to let them go the longer they’re with us. We just expect them to go on forever, in a way. What we should focus on is that there is so much life in every day for them, where as we tend to focus forward, as in some day we’ll do something. But our days are a means to an end, viewing them as a series of menial tasks until the week-end, a vacation or retirement. Jesse’s 18 years here were richer than most human’s lives and he’ll be there, waiting for you. He is blessed.

  57. A loss is always tough, even when you KNOW what a great life you gave Jesse at your home. Jesse can now stand and run again, so he’s all set! The hole is in your hearts though. I hope you and your family give yourselves time to heal. (I also wonder what cute dog Jesse will lead you to when the time is right.)

  58. I’m so sorry for your loss Dr. Jones. Through your courses and online posts I feel like I knew Jesse! What a wonderful companion he was to you and your family and how great for all of you that he lived to such a ripe old age. My heart is with you in your grief.

  59. Hi Dr. Jones, there are no words that can help when you lose a part of the family, dogs are so special and very much a part of the family. They teach us many lessons about life and love. Jesse knew where he belonged before anyone else did, they tend to pick us before you pick them. I know he will be missed but he is happy to have lived with you. Somehow I think they stick around for awhile in spirit. Thankyou for sharing this sad time.

  60. What a wonderful dog, Jesse! You gave him many many wonderful years and he gave you and your family the same. That is so precious. As well as being cute, he had a cute personality and how special of you to have let it shine and appreciate everything about him. I think that made your dad smile. Now the hardest part is missing him. That pain though will gradually turn into loving memories. What a fortunate dog! You are obviously so very caring and giving. I can’t imagine a better life for him!

  61. So sorry for the loss of your beloved pet Jessie.
I know the pain and sadness, I had to have my sweet little Shih Tzu, Teeka euthanized last February. it was heart-wrenching, I miss her so much and still cry many tears. May they visit us often in spirit.

  62. So Sorry for your loss. Jesse knew what he was doing when he went home with you. Animals know. He knew you were the next best thing after your father passed.Thank God you were there to take care of him and in the end the two of you took care of each other.

  63. How wonderful to have had so many years with Jesse. My Daisy is now 16 1/2 and I treasure every second with her. It’s such a privilege to share my life with a happy, mostly healthy, senior dog. She is so wise and special that everyone she meets (human or canine) feels blessed. I know Jesse gave you the same incredibly bitter-sweet joy, and I cry with you as you remember.

  64. I’m so sorry for your loss of Jesse and I feel your pain. Sadly our pets’ time here on Earth with us is far too short. But I do believe that one day we will be together with all our beloved ones that have gone to the Bridge. Jesse and all the pets you’ve lost live on in your heart. Run free Jesse at the Rainbow Bridge.

  65. It doesn’t matter how long they’re with us, it’s never enough time. So very sorry for your loss

  66. What wonderful memories of a dear and much loved companion. Letting go is never easy but he had a great life with you and your family.

  67. I am so very sorry to hear Jesse passed …but he will be waiting for you …it never gets any easier, to let go of somebody you love …my thoughts and prayers are with you …

  68. oh my…so sorry to know that, it suddenly brings deja vu on my part loosing 2 dogs on different mos. it really breaks my heart everytime i hear or read about dogs dying/died. but for Jesse he’s a lucky dog bec. he had a family, what about those who doesn’t? Anyways, I know Jessie is a one big happy dog now, no more pain…only happiness running and playing.

  69. I am so sorry for your loss. Jesse was a beautiful dog, and now he’s running around happily in Heaven. God bless you and your family!

  70. Dr. Jones,
We are saddened to hear of the loss of such a wonderful companion. I remember when you lost your dad and Jessie adopted you immediately as his new family. I saw the video you made last week and knew in my heart that his time was near. The loss of a companion is never easy and we will remember all the things we did together. We have an area set aside in our yard for our pet cemetery and and have buried 5 of our family companions over the years. Perhaps God will send another special companion for your family to bless with your love, care, and companionship. Keep up the wonderful work that you do for us with your excellent health advice and nutritional products.

  71. My heart goes out to you and your family. I feel like I knew Jesse as he was frequently in my inbox. He lived a good, long, happy and healthy life because he was lucky enough to have you! He will be missed….

  72. I’m sorry for your loss. I know too well how this feels as well as ho difficult it is to need to make this decision for your pet. I hope your fond memories help you to heal your hearts and that Jessie will not be the last dog like him to have you for their family.

  73. Losing this beloved pet is like losing a family member, because that is what he was and always will be. I have lost beloved pets through the years, all from “old age” except for my beloved Shih Tzu, Me-Tu who was poisoned by the Iams dog food eight years ago. I immediately got Macy who is now eight years old, not as a “replacement” but to fill the void in my heart. I believe in the Rainbow Bridge and just know, he will be waiting for you with a wet kiss and open arms. Much sympathy to you and your family.

  74. My condolences with Jessie. He has finished his mission here on earth and is now back home. He was lucky to have spend the best part of his life with you. They are there for us to love and to hold and in time to let go. Farewell Jessie, have a safe journey home.

  75. I am so sorry to hear he died. But he lived a great life! 18! I hope my lab lives that long. Jesse will be remembered by us all.

  76. Andrew,
So sorry for your loss it is very hard to accept. Jesse new He was loved and is now running over the Rainbow bridge in lush green grass with fresh running water.

  77. Those animals who touch our hearts so very deeply never really “die.” They remain in our thoughts forever. I join you in your sense of loss for Jesse. He loved you til the end.

  78. My heartfelt condolences, Dr. Jones. May the warm memories of Jesse comfort you during this difficult time. No doubt he is grateful to you and your family for all of the love you shared over the years, as I know you are to him. Peace and blessings.

  79. Dr. Jones, I am so sorry to learn that your time with your wonderful pal Jesse has come to it’s end…..I know that pain..and it does change something in you….Jesse will continue to be part of your life for as long as you continue to remember him…….

  80. Sending you all peace, love, and healing. Jesse was lucky to have you and you were blessed to have him! You will meet again in heaven I know.

  81. I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to have them gone from us as I too have lost pets over the years. If there is a doggie Heaven, I`m sure Jesse will be there as well as all our passed pets.

  82. 76yr young AR, ex.USN Medical Deep Sea Diving Technician. 1967-68 witnessed as part of training the following.Subject: dog connected to EKG machine, man carried dog into pool-EKG registered anxiety(waves on ekg-(interpetation), man played with dog in water-happiness. But then man held dog underwater extreme fear, anxiety to panic!! then dog died. While still underwater the brain wave continued for another 17 minutes. Henceforth whenever one of my dogs died(usually they come and lay at my feet). Have gotten down on floor with them and in calm soothing voice told them they are a gooood dog and i love them(by name)for at least twenty minutes and at same time lovingly petted and rubbed their ear tip. It hurt me at that time in the pool and really, really hurts when my own dies average life span of my dogs about 13.5 to 16 longest. The experiment was done to find out if brain function continues after body dies, relating to all (ALL) warm blooded animals. Imagine in the past centuries where people were hung, or beheaded…still thinking. Thus when i had to put down one of my dogs (accidentally) ran over his stomach after i got the 20 gauge and shot him in the head so he would not suffer any more. Now you know a truth, proven by science. Remember the good times with Jesse and he will always be with you. A friend.

  83. I felt a lump in my throat as I read the heartbreaking news and the love letter to Jessie, thank you for sharing with us. I love receiving your messages – please always keeps up the good work – the world is so lucky to have you Dr. Jones, you are a gift!
    Warmly,
Susan and our animal companions, our cats Omar, Willy, Jezabel, Bowser, Jasha and Baby Zoey in heaven, and our dogs Chloe and Ollie

  84. So sorry to see that Jesse passed away. Brought tears to my eyes! I know the void they leave in your heart. To this day we still think of our “Tequila” that died in my arms four years ago. It is heart wrenching. Jesse had a good life must be our consolation now that he is gone. That void in your heart can never be replaced by another dog, you must have to move on and love a new companion as much without forgetting what Jesse brought to your life and your family.

  85. No matter how long they are with us, it is never enough time, nor does it get easier each time we have to let them go. There is a new furry angel guiding your way now. Godspeed Jesse.

  86. I feel and know your pain. You gave her a great life for 18 years.Always some exciting going on. That is hat keeps them going. You did to the very end.Jess will always be remembered and missed.RIP Jessie.

  87. As with all good things in life they come to a end Much too our dislike Losing your best friend is hard I think of all the good times I have had with all my animalfriends thank you Doc for sharing your thoughts and Jesse with all your freinds out here in the world Jim in fl.

  88. O’k to let your subscribers know about experiment.(Anxiety, calmed down, happy to play, again anxiety, fear, panic, death…brain still functioning 17 minutes after body function ceased,

  89. I am saddened by your loss. Please take comfort knowing Jessie will be waiting for you on the other side of The Rainbow Bridge. Until then, in Jessie ‘ honor – share your love with a animal in need of support and acceptance.

  90. Hello Andrew,

I am happy that Jesse spent the last years of his life being with you and your family. He had a lot of good healthy years and a lot of loving.
    All the best!
    Joanne

  91. Awww so sorry for your loss. I’ve been there and it does take a piece with you, grief is heart wrenching, unfortunately. They are so unconditional and loving. My thoughts are with you and your family. You’re an amazing vet, wonderful how many animals you have helped. When it’s yours it’s different of course, but it takes a strong, special kind of person to be a vet that loves animals as much as you do. Healing thoughts to you.

  92. May Jesse’s memories comfort and help to heal you. He loved you and your family and you loved him back. The greatest gift to humans, is the love of animals for us. Nothing compares. All the best. 🙂

  93. So very sad for you loss.
I have been there many times and it gets worse each time having to say goodbye to a beloved furchild
My heart goes out to you and Jesse is running free at the Rainbow Bridge …until you meet again

  95. My symphanthy goes out too you. Our love of our fur children is so strong, but I know we will see them again. No matter how many times we walk thru this valley, it never get easier. May God be with you and Bless and hold Jessie in his arms.

  96. Thanks for taking great care of your friend. And thanks for letting us share in his happy times with you.

  97. I’m so sorry for your loss. I will Jesse too as he was in a lot of your videos. He was always such a good sport.

  98. my heart goes out to you on the loss of Jessie. I agree it does NOT get easier with an older dog, having lost 16 year old(Cairn Terrier) and 15 year old(Dachshund) dogs over the years. I dread the day my current beloved black German Shepherd Dog,(Elsa) leaves me, but am thankful to the Lord for giving me her delightful company and companionship in the meantime. God bless you and help the pain to diminish over time.

  99. It is very painful to us to lose a pet of any kind and you did your best for Jesse taking care of him and he lived to a nice old age too. It was nice all family members were present when he went, I feel our pets would prefer it that way as they always like everyone to be around them when they are living. He will always be with you and your family in your hearts and thoughts. Your other dogs and cats will be grieving to in their way. Sincere condolences and also thank your for sharing all of your pets lives with everyone.

  100. So sorry to hear of the loss of Jesse. Thank you for sharing his journey. God bless you and your family as you go through this difficult time. It is never easy when a faithful friend dies. Beautiful memories will keep you strong.

  101. Dr. Jones, I am so very sorry to hear of Jesse’s passing. No matter how old they are it still hurts. I lost one of my Shih Tzus just over three years ago to a severe seizure; he was only 4 1/2 so I know how bad it hurts. I still miss him. My thoughts and prayers for all of you.

  102. I am so sorry for your loss. I had a dog too named Maki who passed away last yr after 14 yrs of existense. He was my baby, my friend and companion. He is now in Rainbow Bridge, so with your Jesse. The dogs there are happy and healthy never sick, When our time comes, they will be there to meet us again.Be reunited with us and never be part again. I am sad for you Jesse but he is in a better place now. He loves you and that love will keep him alive in his heart and mind and he will never forget you. I will offer prayers for him. Again my condolences..

  103. So sorry for your loss Dr. Jones! It is funny dogs know how to pick people and he knew a good thing when he saw you! Talking dogs are the BEST! I had a Doberman like that – many hours of laughter with her which I’m sure you had the same with Jessie! My heart goes out to you and your family – though her time was right – 18 years – WOW – that is incredible! I always believe they are still up there across the rainbow watching out for us! Hugs and Love to you and your family!

  104. you gave him a good life and family. he will remain in your hearts always. many hearts the world over send their compassion to you, dr. jones. Namaste.

  107. I don’t think it gets even remotely easier to lose a beloved member of your family as they age. It’s still heart wrenching no matter what. So sorry for your loss of a great buddy.

  108. I’m so sorry. It makes me cry every time I hear about someone losing their pet. I know how each animal burrows their way into the heart, and the hole that they leave can seem unfillable. It is such a blessing that God gave us the gift of animals who have nothing but unconditional love for us. May all your warm memories of Jesse help you through this sad time.
    Laurette

  109. So sorry to hear that Jesse has passed. I cryed when I was reading your short note, I know what it’s like to lose your animal I’ve gone through it, my cat Dazy-girl just turned 15 and has some problems not sure how long she will last. She has some meds will see how things will go. I miss all my animals, we get so attached to them they are part of yours and mine family that is. Don’t know if animals go to heaven I sure hope so. Take care Dr. Jones my heart goes out to you.

  110. I know it’s not easy and thank you a million times over for your commitment and dedication to the human and animal kingdom. May God hold your family so close during this sad transition and comfort your hearts.

Jessie is truly an angel dog. I’ve loved every video and demonstration he’s given with you. In my eyes he’s a super star and I love him. He’s absolutely NAILED, and continues to, the highest attributes a soul can achieve which puts him right up there in sainthood…he’s been an awesome practitioner of devotion, forgiveness, patience, service and unconditional love. And he’s been doing it a long time. 18 years! Extraordinary.

Blessings to you, St. Jessie on your next stage of life. You’ve bring so much joy to all of us. Thank you dearest heart. You are so loved.

  111. I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand how hard it is. We’re still missing our GSD that we lost two years ago.

  112. What a beautiful dog Jesse was. I know the family’s hearts are hurting for the loss of such a wonderful companion. Thank you for sharing Jesse’s photos with us.

  113. Love and so much light to your amazing family and the phenomenal Jesse! It is so amamzing how much love light is transitioning forward to make room for others and more! Love, love and more love the O’Shields family animal clan.

  114. It’s always hard to loose a good dog. They grow to be souch a part of your family. That’s what puppies are for though. They help you move on with their magic puppy faces.

  115. Our deepest sympathy to Dr. Andrew Jones and his family. We know how much losing a pet means as we have lost some pets ourselves. Just remember that someday when you go to heaven (hopefully, not for a long time yet), Jessie and your pet cat and any other pets you lost will be waiting for you! Take care, Marilyn and family

  116. Im so very sorry to hear of you and your family’s loss. It makes it more devistating as they become like our children.

  117. No, it doesn’t get easier when you lose a pet no matter how old they are. Praying for you and your family during your time of grief.

  118. I am so very sorry to hear of Jessie passing. It is so heartbreaking and difficult whenever a fur baby that is considered a part of your family passes. Jessie knew how much he was loved by you and your family. He lived to be a wonderful age of 18! I personally don’t know many dogs that have lived that long. Thank you for sharing. Hugs to you and your family ??

  119. So sorry for your loss of Jesse. It is so hard to lose our beloved pets.He will be waiting for you to join him someday at the Rainbow Bridge.Run free old boy, you were loved.

  120. Dr. Andrew,

It is a difficult time for you and your family, but you have so many memories of Jesse! He will be in your hearts and minds forever. R.I.P. Jesse.

  121. I am so sorry to hear of Jessie’s crossing. The loss of any pet is hard to take but he is in a place where there is no pain and he can run and play as usual. His soul lives on, just in a different dimension.

  122. Jesse had a great life with you and your family. The last thing he saw before he took his last breathe was the people he loved and that loved him. His paws will always be wrapped around your heart and your family’s hearts. RIP Jesse. You can run free with your former master, Dr. Jones’ dad, and when you hear him call “Jesse” you can go running to meet him.

  123. Dear Dr. Andrew,

I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear Jesse. We all love our pets so much, I can only imagine your heartache. I know God loves animals too and I really feel He has a place for them, with ,in his Kingdom. Sympathy to you and your family.

  124. Oh dear! But know you, your family and your dear dad gave Jesse a wonderful life and he gave it back to you..
He went on surrounded by and smelling his devoted loving family around him. bless you and your family. My heart is with you all. I believe Jesse is now an angel!!

    Gayle

  125. I know how you feel very well, and I’m so, so sorry that you and your family are going through this heartache. Jesse will be watching over you, your wife, and your children for ever more. He will know that y’all continue to love him even though he is no longer there, and he will continue to love you. My Danny Boy had to leave me this past Christmas after 15 1/2 years. His love is still with me, and my love for him will never die.

Thank you so much, Dr. Andrew, for all you’ve done to help so many people and animals. Thank you for all you continue to do. You are a true blessing to all of us who love animals.

  126. Dear Dr. Jones
I am so deeply sorry to hear of this. I had posted Jesse on FB and asked all my Reiki Lightworkers to send him healing. Some knew his time would be short so offered love and assistance in his crossing. I know you know, that he will always be with you. Animals touch our hearts in such a way, that is so deeply felt.Blessings to Jesse for giving you so much light in your life. I have no doubt that he loved you and your family ten fold. When you feel him brush by you or bark in the night, know that he has come to say, ‘Hello! I’m still here! Talk to me!”
With my deepest sympathy in your sorrow,
    Blessings and love always.

  127. Our pets are like our children. It hurts so to lose them. Please know that you and your family are in our prayers. It’s never easy to lose a pet no matter how old or young they are. I’m sure Jesse knows how much you loved him. One day you will meet him again at the Rainbow Bridge and wait for you to cross over with him.

  128. Rainbow Bridge will be even a happier place now that Jesse has joined all those who went before him. My wishes for you and your family are to take
joy in the wondefulr years he spent in his loving home, he was a very fortunate boy unlike so many who have no one to love them. I, too, have lost
many pets and no…it never gets easier. A loss is a loss regardless it be
losing a human or a pet. I shed tears for you and your family today as another person pain is like my own…Bless each and everyone of you and the
next pet who comes to you. How lucky they will be.

  129. So sorry for your loss. We can all understand the heavy heart and the tears when we lose a special friend! My dog, Blackie,a lab-shepherd-husky mix, used to talk to us, shake his head from side to side and snort when he wanted something, be in a bit of what we were eating or needing to go out to relieve himself. We had many a laugh with him and can still hear him, since he died in Sept. 2013…he was 13. Such a character he was, just like your Jessie! It’s good you still have another dog to hug!

  130. My heart goes out to you and your family upon the lose of sweet Jesse. It brings it all home as our four legged friends are such a part of our family. I know he will be missed!

    My condolences,
    Suzanneb. Whitehead

  131. Dr. Jones, I am deeply saddened by the loss of your precious 18 year old Jesse. It certainly leaves us feeling empty & void when losing a furry family member that has given such depthless & unending love. Even though, in time, we may get another “family member,” the lose of one loved so very much, will never leave us. Everything around you will continue to keep Jesse’s memory alive.
Jesse had a magnificent life with your beautiful family.
Wishing you much love & many blessing, with peace in your soul!!!!

  132. Dr. Andrew and family….I am so sorry to hear this news of Jesse. Beautiful fellow, so loved and cared for. I trust you will all find peace and comfort as you remember the wonderful years spent together.

  133. I am so, so sorry! I remember that pain as if it were yesterday. I lost a 14 year old “runt” poodle (with a heart condition) and a pet bunny all in the same week. SO sad. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family. Thank you for giving Jessie such a great home and love all these years!

  134. i am so so very sorry….but blessings abounded from sharing your life with his…
i just wish i had the right words…
i shared your video and this letter with my rescue friends on fb..they send to you..their sorrow and condolences to you and your family…

    i am so so sorry

  135. What an amazing friend you all had in jesse.
You must all miss him so much.
I wish you all well as he had a great life with a special family.
I am sure he is still with you in spirit and always will be close by.

  136. I don’t have a lot to add to what so many others have said so beautifully, but wanted to send love and support to you and your family. I hope you can take time to care for yourselves and your grief. I’m sure you miss your loyal companion. Your care helped him enjoy a wonderful, long life and you shared your work and life with him, which is all a dog can hope for. He chose wisely when he hopped in your car! Thanks for sharing Jessie with all of us. Take care, and know that many are with you in spirit.

  137. Doc,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful Dog Jesse. I know how you feel.. but when my dogs have passed I know the Lord needed them to take care and be friends with all the other dogs in heaven… He will be missed and loved but will be going to a greater home…
Bless you for being a great “Father” to Jesse…
My best to you and loving prayers to your family and Jesse.
    Bob

  138. Dr Andrew and your family~~~~~I am soooooooo sorry for your loss of your beloved “Jesse”. It is hard to lose a beloved pet at any age, but I am glad that you have so many wonderful memories to cherish. I am sure there is a Pet Heaven, where we will see all of our beloved pets again !

  139. I’m so really sorry for your loss. Reiki on the way for Jesse’s journey home and all concerned.
Reiki for you and your family as well.
    Blessings,
    Victoria

  140. Dear Dr. Andrew and family, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. It’s just like your lost another family member. They get so attached to you, give you lots of joy and happiness. I really can feel with you. May all the good memories of Jesse keep you all going. Take care.

  141. I am so sorry to hear about Jesse, they just are not with us long enough, even at 18 years old! Feel blessed that the Lord felt you were good enough to have the care of dear Jesse. With sympathy,
    Anna, Max and Penny

  142. I am so sorry for your loss of Jesse. He had a great life with you and you gave him the ultimate gift to end the suffering of his old body. RIP sweet Jesse.

  143. I FEEL YOUR PAIN. IN 5 YEARS I HAD TO SAY GOODBYE TO 4 OUT OF 5 OF MY CATS.
I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS!
    LINDA

  144. So very sorry for your loss, Jesse was a beautiful boy! I am so sorry for the pain and loss your going through!

  145. My sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved Jesse. His memory, love, and silly antics will live on forever with you and your family.
Look at his picture frequently and remember the love and devotion he brought to you. Nothing can replace him but many other homeless dogs are looking for good homes and can give you as much love and devotion as Jesse did. We’ve lost two precious babies the past year to cancer and miss them so much. We recently adopted a 6 week old rescue from a puppy mill and he’s so active and been such a joy. We love him to pieces. Good luck to you and yours.

  146. Dr Jones

Sorry, to hear about Jessie. We had two collies Rusty and Dannyrae, both passed away at the age of 14, three years apart. Miss them very much. We now have two paps ages 9 and 10 wish they could live forever, but of course they age faster then we do. Thank you so much for the great information you have out there for healing your pets at home the natural way. I love your book and use it all the time for Kodi and Dakota. I also email your emails to other friends and family who have pets, to sign up for your new letters. No other Vet is doing what you do, so I commend you and also take some of the emails to them to read, so maybe it won’t be so much about the money for them. (JOKE) Thanks again

    Angela

  147. Andrew so sorry for your families loss. It always hurts so much to lose a friend and family member. He was blessed to have you and you to have him.

  148. So very sorry for your loss, Dr. Andrew. I know and feel your pain. I have always been a multi-pet family. Each one has their own personality, each death leaves a heartache. I have promised myself over and over I cannot go through this pain repeatedly, to take the rescues to the shelter, yet I again have 5 dogs and 2 cats. I love them dearly…. seven more heartaches to come, perhaps even more.

  149. So sorry for the passing of Jesse. I am sure he had a wonderful life with you and your family. Losing any of your animal family is heart breaking, as you wish they could be with you forever. Take care!!

  150. My heart goes out to your family for the loss of beloved Jesse! I know he will always be with your family in his sweet spirit and his sweet memories are forever! Angel Hug to You and RIP at the RB Sweet Jesse!

  151. So sorry for your loss! Enjoyed the pictures that you always posted of him. But how lucky you were to have had him on earth for 18 years! My little westie Missy passed a year ago July 7th she was 13 1/2 and I would have given anything if she could have lived so long! I miss her terribly and still mourn the loss of her every day.
also just want to say thank you for all your great information I used alot of it when I was caring for Missy. God Bless you and your family.

  152. I’m so sorry about your loss. I lost my precious Petey one year ago. I will always love and miss him as I know you will Jesse.

  153. I am so sorry to hear about Jesse today. Any time I hear of a pet’s passing I get tears because I know that this was not just a pet, but a member of your family that was dearly loved and missed…..Jesse seems to have lived a long and full life where he loved those around him and knew he was loved. We have six Malteses, the parents who are 10 and the four kids that are 7….It makes me so sad to know that one day we will be apart – I can only look forward to when we are all together again at Rainbow Bridge. I look forward to also seeing Jesse there as well…..

  154. Blessings & condolences to you and your family! There is no loss like losing a pet.

I too, adopted my dad’s (Jesse) pet (Corkey), and had to put him down at 16 years old this time last year. I miss him so much!

  155. Hello. So very very sorry about Jesse. He looked just like my Bubba. They are always in our hearts but so hard too lose our furkids. God bless and thank you for sharing. Rip Jesse & run with my Bubbie @ the rainbow bridge.

  156. Dr. Andrew,
I am so sorry for your loss of Jesse. Thank you, for sharing your loving stories about him. My thoughts are with you and your family.
    many blessings,
    Dorothy
    Sedona, AZ

  157. Dr Andrew so sorry for your lostof Jesse.I know its hard just last year we lost our beloved Goofy a newfounland 15 years old, now we have 2 newfoundlands brother and sister, but we still feel the pain . May Jesse RIP.

  158. As many others have stated it is sad. Animals give us such love and joy. It is a blessing to have shared your lives together. I know that when I go all my friends will be waiting for me. I feel that you never have had a best and loyal friend till you have become a pet guardian. The love is amazing and true from within the heart.

  159. Hello, my heart goes out to you and your family. Pets are most definitely members of the family and their loss is deeply felt. May the memories you have of your time with Jesse carry you through this most difficult period. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I had looked forward to your email reports of how he was doing. Sincere condolences.

  160. So sorry to hear your dear Jesse has passed. The pain from loosing a pet is hard.
I hope it will bring some comfort, knowing the love of you and your family gave him a wonderful and happy life.
I am sure he felt very lucky that you guys were his humans!
    RIP Jesse

  161. I am so sorry to hear of Jesse’s goodbye. He had a wonderful long life with you, your Dad and your family and I know that he would have had the absolute best of care during his 18 years. It is never easy to part with our pets – been there too many times and many more yet to come. And, it certainly can’t be easy for you as a veterinarian even though you know that it was the most loving and kind outcome possible for Jesse. Bless Jesse and remember that his soul is part of your soul so he will always be with you in this world and the next. He’s just beyond your range of your vision for now.

  162. I ache for you but you did the last act of love for Jesse so you should derive comfort from that. We have lost several pets over the years and still mourn them so we know what you are feeling.

  163. Nothing to be added really to the wonderful expressions already made about Jesse. As we have all heard many times..dogs don’t need such a long life as they are so much nicer than humans from the get go. Never changes the sadness they leave behind..Please pass that love to another dog in need. Thank you for sharing Jesse and his life.

  164. Dear Dr Jones,

It is not often that we are chosen my the Animal Kingdom, but you are the lucky one.
But Jesse selected you as his Sole Mate, of which you should be very PROUD. He gave you unconditional love for 18 years, which a lot longer that some humans would. I am sad to hear of his passing, but if he could not do the things he loved, I’ll bet he was ready to take the long sleep. I know I would.

Be sad but be happy for Jesse and all your wonderful times together.

  165. Dear Dr Andrew: I’m so sad to hear about Jesse’s passing and deeply sorry for your loss. I know how devastating it feels. But most of all, you gave Jesse the best life ever. Thank you for your kindness to us and all our loyal loving pets.

  166. So sorry for your loss! No pet can ever be replaced; it can only be succeeded. Each dog has it’s own “dog-personality”. Enjoy sharing the memories of Jessie; we enjoy all our dogs’ “quirks” even 40 years after their deaths. Shalom, Andrew.

  167. I feel so bad that Jessie had to be put to sleep, however, I believe all of your followers are very grateful that he was able to be with a family like yours who gave him the love he needed. That’s all dogs want …to be loved. Thank you for making his life wonderful!

  168. So sorry for your loss. I am going through something similar with my beloved dog, Nicholas. He is only 12 and has degenerative disk disease. We opted not to put him spinal surgery and the long recovery period at 12 years old. He is on meds to keep him comfortable, but it’s day to day.

  169. Dearest doctor. I am so saddened to hear of your loss. Such a testament, though, to your great care of Jesse. 18 years old! God keep you during this time

  170. It’s never easy. In fact to me, it’s one of the hardest things to go through. My thoughts are with you.

  171. Thru my tears… Jessie and all the dogs, all the dogs, are now playing. Hope they let humans in to visit.

  172. Dr. Andrew,

What I’ve learned over the years is that, as one of my furry family members passes on, the passing of time and knowing my pet was loved, cared for, and lived well eases the pain. I believe they are still here with us in spirit but just on the other side. My heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family.

    Kind regards,
    Ted

  173. Run free, Jesse. Wait for your family at the rainbow bridge. You will be apart just a moment in time.

    So sorry for youir loss.

  174. The loss of a beloved creature is always so much painfull.

When we never forget the beloved, he is with us like never died.

Be strong Dr Jones, Jesse will be always with you.

  175. My eyes fill with tears as I think of you losing Jesse as I still mourn my young 6 year old Springer who had seizures and lived a short life, dying in January. No matter how long you have had your pet it is a deep loss, and I am filled with sympathy for you and yours. Remembering the good times you had with him will keep your chin up. I am sorry.

  176. Sorry for your loss, Dr. Andrew and family …. A beloved pet is a terrible emotional and hear-wrenching experience. I know because I’ve been through it numerous times over the years. I will burn some sage in his honor, to ensure his little soul will be released to a better place. That is not to say you weren’t loving pet parents …. I know you were. The Rainbow Bridge has a brand new angel, and we all feel your pain. God keep Jesse, and the rest of your family. You are God-sent, so keep up the good work that you do, and bless you all.

  177. Sorry for your loss, Dr. Andrew and family …. The death of a beloved pet is a terribly emotional and hear-wrenching experience. I know because I’ve been through it numerous times over the years. I will burn some sage in his honor, to ensure his little soul will be released to a better place. (a Native American tradition) That is not to say you weren’t loving pet parents …. I know you were. The Rainbow Bridge has a brand new angel, and we all feel your pain. God keep Jesse, and the rest of your family. You are God-sent, so keep up the good work that you do, and bless you all.

  178. Sorry for your loss. Will Rodgers said “If dogs don’t go to
Heaven, I want to go where they go.” Bless you and your
    family.

  179. Jesse had a long and wonderful life with you and your family. Our animals never live long enough. My condolences, Penny & Peaches, Cat Angel

  180. Jesse became yours for a reason. It is no coincidence that dog spelt backwards, spells God. He sent Jesse to your dad and then onto you & your family to make you laugh, be happy and feel loved. However, not many people recognize that love, hence so many abandoned animals. But you and your dad did and may you be blessed for it. Jesse gave his love unconditionally to you which you & your family reciprocated and has now returned to heaven, where he will wait for you until you & your family go home as well. Take comfort that Love never dies. Never. God is love and Jesse is in Good Hands. You will see each other again.

  181. I expected this but not so soon—it breaks me up as I know he was your best friend and sidekick–what a wonderful looking dog –he is now a higher form of energy–beings like him are better than most humans–take care

  182. I am sorry about the loss of your great dog. I was very upset about losing my 13 year old just 3 years ago. Fortunately I got another dog Kia my German shepherd. She was quite a handful for me all 4’10” of me but I love big dogs. You never really get over them even after 3 years gone by. I am so sorry for your loss.

  183. May you find comfort, as I have the many times I have lost a furry child, that beloved Jesse has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and has no pain. May the hearts of you and your family quickly heal from the pain of loss as he will forever be in your heats. I cry tears with you right now because I know the heart-break you are feeling. I pray God heals your broken hearts. God Speed Jesse.

  184. So sorry for your loss. It is never easy as they are family members and leave a big hole in your heart. I still gettears over my firt dog that I lost back in 2002. Take care!

  185. So very sorry to hear about Jessie – as you say it does NOT get any easier with age. Rest in Peace and chase all those skunks over the Rainbow Bridge. <3

  186. Dr. Andrew Jones, God have not promised sunshine without rain, joy without sorrow. He gave you Jessie to brighten your everyday, to warm your heart, beauty & joy for your eyes to see. But God promised his undying love & sympathy for us all. My Jazzie, 12 yrs old maltese is also nearing her end.

  187. I am so sorry for your loss. I just lost Jackson, my beagle about 2 months ago and I still miss him.It is so hard to loose a good friend and one that shows their love to us the way dogs do.

  188. I am so sorry to hear about Jesse. Know that our hearts are heavy as well. What will get you and your family through this is the good times you had. That’s the things you will cherish. No more suffering, just rest.

  189. God Bless you and your family in your sorrow, Dr. Andrew. What a year it’s been for you. Jesse must have been so special to you for continuing your connetion with your father. And for binging the outpouring of love shown from your readers. We still cry for our Jock even after 6 yrs but even crying brings forth joy just in remembering. All our best.

  190. Hello Dr. A. With my rescues and pets, we have unfortunately had many sad days with losing animals. No matter how many you lose, each one breaks your heart. We now have Ruby, a 15 1/2 yr Mini Schnauzer, and her son Gerber 7yr (because he was the baby of the family —we had his Gramma (your patient– we drove from Vancouver to Nelson to see you), his two blind great uncles, his mama (Ruby)his big brother Mousse (cuz he was enormous, but sweet) a cat, and him. So he was the baby of the family, therefore “Gerber”, like the baby food. All of them had the benefit of your amazing supplement, your books and emails and advice and care.
I had many great talks with Michael when ordering product. I wrote to him about how proud your dad undoubtedly was of you two, being involved together in such a noble pursuit. I let him know that all of us who have followed your challenges, and courage, and honourable intent through the years are in step behind you. You have a dedicated army of quiet support and gratitude, as you can quite clearly discern from the comments on this (blog?)
I have asked Ruby to stay as long as she can….she has liver disease, but your book has saved her in many a crisis. I told her today that Jesse stayed for 18 years, so she might like to consider that!!
love to you and yours and thanks for this network of care and compassion and truth you have created. Marnie Jennings

  191. I’m very sorry for the loss of your friend and companion, Jesse. You gave him a wonderful home and happy times. Hugs to you and your family.

  192. May God comfort you in the loss of your handsome boy. I’m so glad you and your family had the joy of having him. Chris

  193. p.s. note to Dorothy
I too had Iams related deaths. after the fifth one the vet said to me “are you feeding them Iams?” “yes, on your advice” apparently it was the preservatives they used. also lost one to the Nutro poisoning from the Chinese melamine. Thank goodness for Dr Jones, and his food awareness program!!! he is the watch dog who keeps them honest.

  194. I’m sorry for your loss. jess was a great dog by the see of it. I thoughts and pray are you and your family. I will be having to do that same thing sometime with my cat George.

  195. So very sorry for your loss. My boss’ dog Abby went over the Rainbow Bridge also on Saturday. I is a very sad time. Hugs to you & your family.

  196. Thank You so very much for sharing Jesse WITH ME! I had such enjoyment each and every week watching Jesse wag his tail as you gave him supplement after supplement, and he was happy to have you do anything you wanted to do to or for him. I just lost one of my 18 year old poodles, and I still have his 18 year old brother. For 4 months after his brother passed, the one I have left would carry around his brothers harness in his mouth, crying & weeping for him, JUST LIKE A HUMAN. I am with very heavy heart at the loss of Jesse too! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING JESSE WITH ME! God Bless you in this time!

  197. So sorry for your loss Dr. Andrew. I can so feel for you and your family, it hurts so much! But you also must feel so blessed he was able to live to the age of eighteen! What a spirit!

  198. I am so sorry you and your family had to say good-by to Jessie and am glad he didn’t have to leave his home to be euthanized. Please find comfort in knowing that Jessie is happy in heaven and one day all the people he loved will be reunited with him.

  199. I am truly sorry to hear that Jesse has passed.I will keep you and your family in my prayers as you go through this very sad time. Take care Dr.Jones my heart goes out to you.

  200. Dear Dr. Jones, I’m terribly sorry for your loss of your wonderful dog Jesse. The passing away of a beloved pet is so painful. He was an angel on Earth, now he is an angel in Heaven playing with other angel dogs. God bless you and your family. You all made Jesse a very happy dog!

  201. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jesse. It is very sad when we lose a four legged member of our family. They always hold a special place in our hearts.

  202. I am so sorry for your loss!!! Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!! They are family not just animals!!!

    My sincere condolence!

  203. Dr. Jones, I so sorry that Jesse has died. Old dogs exert a special tug on our hearts and reward us when we care for them.

  204. Dear Dr. Jones;
I grieve with you and your family. Just today we lost our beautiful cat, Ebony Cleopatra. She was fine at 1 am when I went to bed, but this morning when I got up she was having convulsions. She passed away on the way to the Vet’s office. It is truly like losing a child. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. God Bless and Keep you and Jessie.

  205. I’m so sorry to hear about your Jesse. I’m sure he will still be watching over you though. He was very lucky to have such a wonderful loving home to go to when he lost his other one.

  206. Please accept my sincere condolences, I am truly sorry for your huge loss. Jesse is at peace now and no longer suffering. You gave him such a wonderful loving home and took the utmost care of him. God Bless

  207. Dear Dr. Jones:

I am sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel !!!. Jesse was a happy furry friend and always will live in your heart and memories.

  208. I have never had to euthanize any of my animals. They have all died suddenly of natural causes. It must be so incredibly difficult to make that final decision.
My thoughts are with you and your family.

    Peter

  209. So sorry to hear about Jessie passing. It’s so hard to lose a fur baby but he had a good life with you and your family. His spirit will be with you…always. Hugs to all of you…RIP Jessie……Gloria

  210. I am so sorry to hear that Jesse has passed away. I am still fretting for my sister’s dog who also had to be euthanised just over a week ago. It was very sad also. Her son had rescued her from being hit with a large van in Calgary. She seemed to be a puppy farm ‘producer’ who might have escaped, she seemed utterly bewildered with her surroundings and was terrified of everything. My sister reluctantly took her in and later took her to Vancouver Island when she moved there about two years ago By then was her most precious friend. I was out there last year and bonded with Molly with no trouble. She had had ongoing health problems, however, and I tried to persuade my sister to put her on a home diet and order your supplement. Her vet said that she had had multiple pregnancies. Although undiagnosed, my guess is that she had chronic pancreatitis which progressed to cancer. After such a bad time it was tragic that she had not lasted longer in her found happiness. Still, she had six good years at least. No matter what, our furry friends never stay with us long enough. I will redirect this to my sister, who is blaming herself for not, as she sees it, doing enough. Thank you for all your advice and for sharing the sad as well as happy times with all of your family. Again I am so sorry. You have the consolation of knowing that Jesse had a long and happy life. I think that losing a pet can be as bad, if not worse, than losing family members….. M.

  211. I am so sorry to hear about Jessie. It brings tears to my eyes to hear he is gone. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I know he will be missed by his animal family at home as well. Rest in Peace Jessie.

  212. Dear Dr Jones

My condolences to you and your family for the loss of your beloved Jesse! Thank you for sharing this with all of us on here. How peaceful he looks in the photo. It is good to know he had all his family around him in his last moments. It’s so heart-breaking to part with out darling pets but he will always be close to you in spirit and I hope you can take comfort from that.

God Bless to all of you and God Bless Jesse.

  215. Sorry to hear of your loss – Jesse was a beautiful dog and very much a part of your family. During our 55 years of marriage, we’ve lost five 4-legged members of our family plus some wonderful kitty cats and it’s no easier than losing the very first one. They stay in our memories forever.

  221. I’m so sorry for your loss… Our furry companions certainly leave an ever lasting mark on our hearts.. I absolutely believe animals have souls the same as we do, and right now, Jesse is undoubtedly sitting next to your father, enjoying one another’s company once again.. Your dad yelling “Jesse” will now be heard all over heaven! Peace and blessings….

  222. Sweet Jessie RIP. May your family find peace in the fact that they gave you a happy life. I lost my beautiful fur baby last November he was almost 18 yrs old. He took a piece of my heart with him. They give us so much happiness and it is so hard to say goodby to them.

  223. My heartfelt tears are with you and my love and prayers are being sent to heaven to be with Jesse. I am a writer for Natural News of dog stories and if you want to ever do a story about Jesse or about anything dog, please let me know. I did a story once on thepetpsychic.com and she told me a lot–and that all of our animals are happy and with their friends, old and new, and great us when we get there–if we are that lucky. I joyously look forward to that day. Thank you Jesse for sharing your love with this family, find your daddy, and maybe when my Kasey arrives in the next week or two, you’ll help him, too. Love. Hugs.

  224. so sorry to hear of the passing of Jesse but to know he had a great life and will be immortalized by your family is your comfort.
we constantly remember our past family members and reminisce of happy times.

take care and Blessings to you and your family

    listen …JESSIE a familiar voice!

  226. I am so sorry that you have lost your beloved companion Jesse. Animals leave a lasting deep love within our hearts that will never pass. He leaves you with wonderful memories of his devotion and loyalty that few humans can ever touch.
Blessings to you and your family at his loss.

  227. Losing a pet is never easy. When they go a part of you goes with them, but at least we know we gave them a good life and their memories we will always treasure.REST IN PEACE JESSIE.

  228. I am so sorry for your loss of Jesse. You were both blessed to have found each other. I hope soon you can find joy in your memories of him.

  229. Very sorry to hear of Jesse’s passing. I know that you and your family are full of happy memories of him. I get what you mean when you say the longer you have a pet, the harder it is to see them go. Peace and blessings to you and your family.

  230. The tears are now streaming from my eyes as I feel your pain and feel the loss of a great friend. I am so very sad and I know that Jessie will be in your heart forever. Such a beautiful kind face, the kind of face that makes your worries and cares go away. He was loved and that is the special gift your and your family gave to Jessie. God bless you and I know that your heart is heavy today but tomorrow will be a brighter day. Lets all say a prayer for Jessie and of course for you and yours.

  231. Through the aching sadness, find comfort knowing that Jesse was love and knew it. No one will ever know what it meant to lose him, but you will always find him in your heart.

  232. JEAN SAYS,
I AM SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT JESSE,BUT HE IS WITH THE LORD NOW AND DOES NOT HAVE TO SUFFER ON THIS EARTH. SOON THERE WILL BE NO MORE DEATH OR SORROW. THE PEOPLE AND ANIMALS WILL LIVE FOREVER. 236. So sorry to hear that Jesse passed away. 4 months ago, April 28, I lost my 14 year old Seigle who had chronic kidney disease. I have not moved on until now. I still cry. I still hear, see, smell him in the house and it just so disheartening to lose somebody who has been a part of your life for many years. My deepest sympathy,

  237. I am so sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing Jesse’s story with us. He sounds like he was a wonderful pet. I have an older dog and I am not looking forward to the day when I have to say the long good bye.

  239. Andrew, I am so sorry for your loss of a beautiful soul, by what you wrote, he gave great joy to your family. A 50km run?? that is amazing. I have loved and lost many precious animal souls over the years, (I am 70 and have had animals my entire life)they remain with me all the time; and I still miss them, some more than others. Without our fur friends I’m sure we would not be the person we are. I have always felt the unconditional love, especially from our dogs.

  240. I’m so sorry to hear about Jesse’s passing. We have all enjoyed hearing about Jesse and the rest of your family. It is so hard to lose a beloved friend. My deepest condolences to you and yours.

  241. I’m so very sorry for the loss of Jesse. On July 31st I had to have one of my beloved friend euthanized. It was so very hard for me. We had 7 great years together. They are gone from this world but forever in our hearts! Blessings to you.

  242. I am so glad Jessie had you, Dr. Jones. There is no friendship or love like it. Sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

  243. I am so sorry for your loss of Jesse.
    R.I.P. Jesse.
    My Deepest Sympathy.
You and Your Family are in my Thoughts and Prayers.
    June

  244. Sorry for your loss Jesse must have been a great dog. Our old girl Misha is starting to fade. She is 16 she still has her moments when she thinks she a pup but like Jesse her time with us is going to fast. And we hate to think about having to say good bye. Again sorry for your losing Jesse. Our deepest sympathy. Danny

  245. Rest in peace Jesse. My heart goes out to you and your family, Dr. Jones, during this very sad time. Jesse will be missed and always remembered. Blessings to you and your family, including the remaining fuzzy ones.

  249. I’m so sorry to hear the sad news that Jesse has gone; your’re right, it’s never easy saying farewell to our pets.
It sounds like he had a wonderful and full life with your family, and you have some wonderful memories to fall back on when the pain eases. I am heartbroken for you all.

  250. So sad to hear Dr. Jones. prayers for all your family. No matter what anyone tries to tell you about Heaven and animals. We will see them again. Just think how is Jesus coming back riding on a horse. How can the lion lay down with the lamb. There is a place in Heaven for our precious pets. Love and prayers

  251. Those of us who love animals mourn the loss of our beloved friends when they pass. My vet told me on the day I had to euthanize my amazing, 23-year old kitty, that ‘the pain we feel at such times, is the price we pay for loving and having been loved so well during the years we spent together. Those words seemed to comfort me a bit, at the time….Maybe, they will do so for you and your family now, at Jesse’s passing. My prayers are with you and your family that your pain diminishes a bit each day.

  252. What a beautiful story you have written about Jesse, and the fun times your family shared with him. Thank you for giving us a chance to know a little about what a special dog Jesse was. I’m so sorry! My heart is breaking for you! A true friend ( Jesse), will stay forever in your heart! God Bless!

  253. Dear Dr Jones,

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. Hopefully, your family can take some comfort knowing that you’ve given him a blessed life and that everyone that follows you, is grateful for Jesse’s help in your tutorials. He won’t be forgotten. Sending you and your family love and prayers.

  254. I am so sorry for you and your family are going through such a loss. We all know the pain one goes through when they lose there beloved Fur Baby. You are no different. The good thing is that one can see them again when it is our time to cross, then we will see them all again.
I do believe in my heart that God gives us our pets to be with us as a companion, to share our lives with them. To teach us love, and the willingness to share our lives with our four legged creatures. And when it is time for them to leave us we are made stronger by there presence, for God is not finished with them yet. But calls them home to be with Him.

I believe in my heart that God gives us these precious creatures (our pets), to take care of them for him until they are ready to go back to God.

I want to share a poem with you, hoping it will help you with your loss.

    The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

    Author unknown…

I hope this brings some comfort for you and your family. It has given me great comfort in the past. And if you need to go into your own space, here is a bit of music that is so relaxing, you will be able to just relax and forget even for a few minutes.

Prayers going out to you Dr Jones

  255. Other than knowing Christ, having a great mate or friend, there is nothing as wonderful as having a great dog in ones life and nothing so heartbreaking as losing them.

Sorry for your loss. No one can sway my believing that heaven is not full of animals. Its for sure the lion isn’t laying with the lamb on this side.

Jessie is making friends with Hudson, Jason, Gunther, Laddie, Shannon, kika,Abby, Scotty, Lori, and on and on….
    Marty

  256. I am very sorry at your great loss of a wonderful dog Jessie. I can feel your pain. Thanks for giving him love and a warm home.

  257. It’s never easy to lose a pet. It hurts a lot!!! We never get over it. We just learn to deal with it better as time goes on.
As I look up at the sky tonight, I will be thinking about You and your bight new shinning star.

  258. My thoughts are with you and your family and my heart goes out to you. Jesse lived a happy life and was obviously loved and well cared for and it showed in his face and eyes. It is never easy to say goodbye even when you are expecting it. Just remember all the good times and keep him forever in your heart and mind.

  259. Dr Andrew Jones, We are so sorry for your loss. We could see that special light in Jessie’s eyes that all our furry friends have when they are loved and well cared for. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. We appreciate all that you have shared with us about Jesse.

  262. So sad to learn of Jesse’s death but the memories will stay with you forever. Lost my Westie Sam at 18 a few years ago, but I still think of him with great affection even though I have other dogs. As the saying goes ‘Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all’.

  263. My tears are coming down like a waterfall reading through some of the messages. Thank you Jesse for being a teacher and being so brave. Please say hallo to Amadeus when you see him in heaven. He is the most beautiful Old English Sheepdog there, so you will notice him immediately. Please give my love to him.

Amadeus was the love of my life, my partner, my friend, my child, my companion for 13 years. He died 5 years ago & I still miss him every day. Could not get another dog yet.

  264. A gift of a dog is a gift of family. The love they give us and the care we give them makes each of us a better person.

  265. so sorry. i feel sad for you . but he had a great life and was loved. we wish they could stay forever. im sure hes in heaven playing , no more pain or sickness.

  266. Dear Dr Andrew,

I am so sad to hear that your Jesse passed away. My deepest condolence to you and your family. She is a wonderful and loving dog now she has gone to God. Its so hard to take it God Bless you and your family.

  267. So sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Jesse. I know very well how you feel. My poor Pipa – a mix terrier – had to be put to sleep yesterday. She had a big tumour on her uterus that already spread into her belly. Plus she had arthrosis. The vet said that she would not survive surgery. I had no other choice but “let her go”. I could see how she suffered during the past weeks since May. Now she is in heaven and has no pain any more. Pipa met her sister who was shot in a field near my house by a hunter in 2012. Pipa and Joana were only digging for mice… Pipa could have been shot as well but she escaped and run home. Now all dogs including your brave Jesse meet in heaven. They remain in our hearts forever. Writing this with tears in my eyes…

  268. This is never easy, and it never gets easier. At least you know that Jesse had a lot of love, and that you were there, for him, till the end. My prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.

  269. Such a terrible pain when we lose our friends. May you all focus on the memories
and find joy in the fact that our Creator provided these adoring animals for our love and enjoyment. Life will be better in the new world ahead and the possibilities are that you might just find another Jesse. Worth contemplating.
    With much love…

  270. My condolences to you and your family. I have been through this so many times myself. Jesse was a lovely dog and fortunate to have had such good care. God bless

  271. Sorry to hear about Jessie, he will be missed; but always remembered and loved in the heart.I can relate to the sad feeling I got 2 dogs in heaven already and they are still missed.

  272. Dr.Andrew and Family ..so sorry for your loss,Take good hard that he was for the last couple years had someone take care of him that loved him

  273. So sorry for your loss. You were lucky to have him and he was lucky to have you after your Dad died. I know you will all miss him.

  274. Dr Andrew and Family,

I can only imagine your pain at sio great a loss. I know our time will come when we have to part with one of our 4. They are so much a part of the family. he is gone but notr forgotten nor replaced.

  275. So sorry that you and your family have lost your beloved Jessie. May God comfort you all. We just lost our 16 year old Clementine Jack Russell so I know how painful it is.
Thank you for sharing the wonderful memories and pictures of Jessie. He was so cute.
Jessie RIP til you meet your family again.
    RM

  276. It’s not easy losing a family member. I believe dogs go to heaven. God bless you And give you another pet of the same caliber.

  277. Dr. Andrew and Family…I am so very sorry for your loss. Having lost my Lab at the end of May due to Cushings Disease and other ‘age related’ issues-I know the pain you are experiencing. I was fortunate not to have had to euthanize. I carried her for the last two months on a full body harness while the specialists tried to figure out how to address each issue. I was extremely close to this dog, as she had gotten me through some of my own serious health issues. I would have done anything for her. She will always remain in my heart…as I know Jesse will remain in yours.

  278. I am very sorry that Jesse passed away because he was so much loved by you and your family and he was lucky he was given to you. I also have pets and I
wish that they didn’t have to go. However, I believe he went to heaven and you will see him again. May God bless you and your family. I will pray for all of you and Jesse.

  279. So very very sad to hear about your beloved Jesse! From what you say, he had a wonderful, full and loving life. It’s never easy to lose our sweet loving pets. He is now with your dad over the Rainbow Bridge. Take care – God bless.

  280. I am so sorry to hear of your sweet Jesse passing. It’s never easy. Tho you know you gave him a good home and loved him as much as he loved you….. nothing more could be asked of anyone. It’s a sad time and I hope you can rejoice in the pleasure he brought to you and your family. His love will remain with you and yours with him.

  281. I am so sorry to hear about Jessie’s passing. He lived a long life and without you, he probably would not have lived so a long life. Jesse knew what he was doing when he chose you. You provided him with a wonderful life and hopefully your loving memories will bring you peace and healing. Your dad would be proud of you. I know Jesse will be missed by you and your family.

  282. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this sad time of Jesse’s transition. It is never easy when a beloved pet has to leave us and leaves a void in our heart.

  283. I am very sorry for your loss. It’s never easy letting go of our beloved pets. Jesse seemed to be such a very special member if your family. Beautiful dog.

  284. Very sorry to hear of Jessie’s death, I an sure you tried everything possible to save him, but sometimes we cannot discover the real cure for our pets problems and often it is best to put them out of their misery/pain, I know only too well having to do so with our Chin-Chin 2years ago, and now we are having problens with our second pekineses dog,Gizmo who is 11 years old and has difficulty walking, despite our vets efforts, he is not at all happy to go walkies, simply goes pee, and sits down or lays down on the grass and refuses to walk much at all, our vet has tried steroids, which have made him less inactive but it appears he has some spinal problems and limps on left front leg, and sometimes seems to drag his left rear leg a little, vet feels he may well have a neurological problem too, so we do not know how much longer we can keep him going we will see, bot dogs have had spinal problems, and one vet thought it was caused by too close inter-breeding, mind you Gizmo had spinal problems 5 years ago and with cage rest recovered well

  285. I felt your sadness…. this is sometimes the reason why i am hesitate to have one after the losing of my 11-year KIKIT.. still mourning after 6 years

  286. My Sympathies to you and your family. – I understand completely why you would share this with your subscribers: because they’ve all felt it at one time or another with one kind of pet or another. Our pets are more than just pets. They are Family. Each is as individual as people are, and behave with the same Human-like reactions as Humans do. The more we can understand their modes of communication, the more we can make ourselves understood by them; and the result is a harmony, exchange & love that can only complete us as mature, rational & loving managers/caretakers of our animal counterparts. – Again, my condolences. It’s always best to turn one’s grief toward constructive efforts, which I’m sure you’re already aware of. New babies are always in need whether they’re young or older. And they give so much more back than one can ever give them. Look forward.

  287. Hello Andrew & Family,
So sorry to hear of Jessie’s passing. You have wonderful memories. So sad for all of the family. My thoughts are with you & your family at this time.

  288. I feel sad Jessie is gone now. But i think what’s more important is that he felt loved while he was with you. He was part of a family.

  289. Sending you all healing energy. They’re our family and I believe come into our lives for a purpose. Thank you for sharing your journey!

  290. Dr Jones, I am so so very sorry for your loss of your precious Jesse. He had a wonderful life and the last 5 years with you and your family showed him how much he was loved. I know your pain and I am thinking of you and your family. God bless.

  291. Dear Dr Jones and Family – so very sorry for your loss. What a sweet fellow your Jessie is. Thank you for sharing his stories with your readers and know that you are supported with heartfelt thoughts and prayers from your Community.

  293. So sorry to hear about Jesse. I know he will be missed. We had a German Shepard mix who lived over 17 years. They have a special place in your heart always.

  294. I’m sorry to hear about Jess. I am so happy he had a good time after your father died. Please convey my condolences to the whole family

  295. So sorry for your loss, Doc. Another star in the sky of angels.
They never leave us – but wouldn’t it be so wonderful to just feel that fur in our hands one more time? Warm hugs to you and your family.

  296. I’m sorry to hear about your Jess. He was welcomed by such a beautiful family. What a happy life Jess had and gave in return. Jess will be missed but not forgotten . Jess continues to live happily in haven.

  297. I am so sorry you lost Jesse. His life touched me and all my dogs as well. You shared so much of your love and care for Jesse that it taught me many things that I need to do for my 5. I found you after the unnecessary death of my 12 yr old cairn, Belita. Your life, your wisdom and your caring for all of us who have never met you and Jesse changed our lives for the better–much better!! And I feel no one will mind me speaking for them!! Now you have an open space in your heart and I will be excited with whatever it is filled with. God bless you and your family—

Carolynn Davis along with Lily, Gracie, Asher, Tekoa and Baby~

  298. Dear Dr. Andrews:
My heart breaks for you and your family. Despite Jessies extroadinarily long “doggie life” it is never long enough. I hope your loving memories of Jessie will sustain you through this difficult time. DT

  299. Dr. Andrew’s,

So sorry for your loss. I am just glad that you had quality time with him before he had to leave. I still feel the pain from losing my Daisy who was 17 when she died.

    Stephanie

  300. I’ve always believed that our doggies live such a relatively short life is because they give us SOOO much of themselves, that they just expire. Nothing against birds, but whose idea was it to have birds live to 100 while our fur babies pass at 18, if we’re lucky?
Dr. Jones, I’m so sad at Jessie’s passing, but I know that you know he wants you to give another doggie as wonderful a home as you gave him, and I’m sure that you will .
