Massive Pet Food Recall
Midwestern Pet Foods has issued a pet-food recall due to possible salmonella contamination, which can cause bacterial infections in both pets and their owners. The recall affects 140 specific lots of dry dog and cat food products from five parent brands, including several different sub-brands, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Salmonella can lead to gastro-intestinal symptoms such as:
- Serious Stomach Cramping/Upset
You can also have symptoms, if not taking the proper care in cleaning protocols.
So, what do you do?
After confirming the lot number on the bag of food on the FDA website, throw out the bag of food. Make sure to clean their food bowls and any scoop you use.
Long term solution is feeding them more homemade foods, and less bagged food. Please check the link below to see if your pet food has been contaminated.
