Larger dogs tend to have shorter lifespans than smaller dogs, however, I think that a major component is what a dog is fed from the beginning of life that determines the length of life as opposed to how many years the dog breed lives before they die as an average. Dr. Marty had a large dog, lab or retriever I think, that lived to be almost 20 yrs. All of the dogs that I have had act like puppies almost up to the day or week that they die, including the ones with cancer.
